The only thing I fry these days is Kim's lumpia. Holy crap that stuff is good. Kim seriously makes the best lumpia I have had, and I have had quite a bit in the last year.

I think a part of the new JAFP is going to involve politely refusing the food her family offers me every time I see them. Very often I eat with them because it's good, not necessarily because I am hungry.

i am all for the JAFP. good luck in the new year with that. yes, reading a book (or holding one...i don't want to discriminate against illiterate people) and eating a doughnut is, indeed, difficult if not impossible. if i may offer a suggestion to the JAFP. no more fried foods. make it a treat rather than a staple and add lots of water to your diet. water will break down the sugar and the southern body does not have to have breading and grease to hold it together.

as for the drinking and driving thing. i agree. STAY SOMEWHERE SAFE, PEOPLE! if you are gonna commit the night to debauchery....then commit it at one place. i don't want you to kill me if you are driving drunk and i don't want you to die. there. public service announcement over.
