I’m using WordPress blogging software and with a theme called Blix. I like the layout and think it suits my needs best but Joe and I need to fiddle with it a little and see how we can tweak it to make it look a little more original. Basically, don’t get to used to how anything looks around here because I will no doubt be messing everything up as I build up the site, modify the theme, and experiment with Wordpress in general.
In case you are wondering, I didn’t go with a fancy super-sleek custom design for my site because in the past year I talked with some different designers (all with great ideas) and I just couldn’t justify paying the money for a custom “artist site” with all of the bells and whistles, especially when I personally don’t feel like I need to sell myself in the way that a band or solo artist does. I’m a bass player and a music teacher and I think thats a little too boring to spend that kind of money on a crazy web site.
I figure the fewer pictures of my face on this internet, the better off everyone is. I’m not a songwriter, I’m not a solo artist, I’m not even a DJ (haha). Also, when you see how many graphic designers and programmers out there use blog software like wordpress and manage to make it look amazing, I figured I’d go in this direction.
Special thanks to Joe Sleeper for helping me not only get the ball rolling, but also for making camoflauge look cool back in the 2nd grade.
