New Metallica song!

There’s a video on Youtube out there of a new Metallica song being performed live. It sucks. I’m not posting it on my site.

Here’s Exodus at Studio 54 back in 1985:

  • Not surprising. Metallica sucks…they haven’t put out a good album since the black album (which itself was sell-outish). And they’ especially Lars, are a bunch of whiny bitches. They SUCK.

  • In all fairness, if you listen to the song you will find it to be the best thing they have recorded in years. However, the bar has been set so low it doesn’t even matter to me. Actually, I just wanted an excuse to post that Exodus video.

  • Yes!!!

    And he’s playing a Fender Strat… that’s old school, and blistering…

    I love exodus.

  • Oh,

    Let me add another comment.…

Exodus is my favorite thrash metal band.….

  • That…kicked all sorts of ass.

And the abovementioned Strat-playing lead guitarist is totally wearing his own band’s shirt under his bitchin’ denim vest. Awesome.

  • Thats Gary Holt and it must have been a couple of years before his Jackson endorsement. The denim vest also has Exodus written on the back– proving his hardcore dedication to his band because he’s now the only original member.

  • Very interesting. And he’s a hell of a guitarist too. I oughtta listen to more Exodus.

  • PS I checked out those new Metallica songs…they’re better than anything on St. Anger, or their last few albums, but that’s not saying much.…

  • Both guitarists played leads… probably the best part of Exodus was that both guitarists (Gary Holt and Rick Hunolt… the H Team) were both as good as some bands’ single lead guitarist. They played back to back leads on most of the classic albums with the alternating guitarist taking up rhythm duties without missing a beat. I think they were the best Thrash band. I loved that they were obviously good players but also a little bit sloppy and maybe having a little too much fun to allow themselves to enter the prog-thrash boundries set by bands like Death and albums like “Rust in Peace” or “And Justice For All.”

Buy “Bonded By Blood” or “Fabulous Disaster” for the old school sound.. get “Force of Habit” for a slightly more grown-up “90’s” sound.. and get one of the new records to see what they are doing now.. “Tempo of the Damned” has all of the original “Fabulous Disaster” line-up (minus Rob McKillop, the bassist). Shovel-headed-someting-or-other has Gary Holt only (and Paul Bostoph on drums).

    I love me some Exodus.

  • I agree with you on the Metallica thing, Alex.. I was kind of enjoying it. It wasn’t making me excited to hear more, though.. it was just… better than the last album. Which I guess, at this point, is all we can ask for.

  • hey metallica is the best metal band in the world no doubt, if u think their stuff is shit go to hell its way better than anything u could write

  • .…go fuck your mother?
