The Story of Menstruation

For years I had been told of the existence of a Disney science film about the process of Menstruation. I’ve seen that stupid one about the history of mathematics a million times, but never had the opportunity to see this one. Everyone pull up a chair and take notes. I am pleased to present “The Story of Menstruation” by Walt Disney Pictures.

“through the courtesy of kotex products”…..wow! that’s classy. should the ovaries not have had some sort of dance number? i half way expected them to be wearing little shortpant overalls or something.

so? the maturing glands tell the ovaries to “go forth and multiply?” interesting.

by the way? where did the scene with the short, tall, thin, and slight girls with the blag scottish terrier dog….where does that fit in with the whole nourished ovary thing? hmmmm…..

I actually watched it all the way through hoping to stumble upon some blissfully out of touch 1950’s perspective on women’s health, but, no. It’s actually a very solid short film, Disney used to be pretty awesome.

I think this was the video they made all the girls watch from 1955 to 1985 at my high school.

Love the pep talk for PMS. Guess that was loooong before Prozac and chocolate.

Thanks for that one…. keep up the fun blogging!

They made all the 6th graders watch this in the 70s (boys AND girls)
The boys all made wolf whistles when the girl was in the shower.
