Well not ALL…
Whoever it is that makes the big decisions down here in Town Center (I am certain I work for at least a few of them), could you PLEASE give us a convenience store!?! I know its not fancy to have a convenience store in this big fancy psuedo-metropolis but its just gosh-darned practical. Sometimes, around 2:30PM or so, I want a soda– maybe some chips– and I don’t ever carry cash or change on me (so I can’t use the machines in the office), so I am left with the options of walking down to the Exxon near Independence Blvd (which is just far enough away to not at all be practical) or drive to the 7-11 (which is much faster but stupid because I have to take at least one elevator trip to my car and drive 9 levels down the garage). When those fancy high-rise apartments at the Westin Tower get filled in, those fancy people are going to want something more than expensive chain restaurants, they are going to want the “I live in the city” experience of walking down to the lobby in your pajamas to buy a 1/4lb. Big Bite and a Slurpee. Trust me, I know. I’ve lived in the city, and getting startlingly cheap pizza at a greek convenience store located next to the scary gay bar on Boylston St. at 4AM is what living in the city is all about. I think.
I think I am hurting my case now.
All I am saying is that, 7-11 can be fancy. Here is a picture of one in the “fancier than anything Virginia Beach could produce” Beacon Hill neighborhood in Boston, MA. It has a gold sign. I think John Kerry buys his Slurpees there.

Isn’t there a fancy pants convenient store in downtown Norfolk across what is/was the big Union Mission? That one is/was really nice looking. Why couldn’t Towne Centre move in that direction? I agree with you. Sometimes you just want some jerky and a freaking Yoo-Hoo.
I think you might be thinking of the MacArthur Pharmacy. I hadn’t considered that as an option, but, hell yeah, a Town Center Wallgreens would be kick ass. No Slurpees, Hotdogs or fountain drinks, however.
But there would be magazines, tampons, chocolate milk, and out-of-season seasonal items. You can’t beat that.
And a massive candy aisle.
There’s a convenience store across the street from Chocollage downtown…it’s in the bottom floor of that apartment complex. That looks pretty fancy.
It is pretty fancy. It’s like a neighborhood corner store. They have Boar’s Head deli products as well as a wide selection of snooty beers..
Well, that’s what Town Center needs. Any kind of convenience store would be nice.
