Morrissey at the Norva

Sweet Jesus, I just spent a lot of money to go see a dude who, five years ago I would have laughed at the notion of seeing for free. Kim’s got me straight trippin (boo). I admit it, I’m excited to see Morrissey, but I am more excited to be able to be dah man and buy Kim tickets to her all-time favorite artist ever (that she’s never seen in concert).

The prices don’t seem all that crazy to me (40 bucks each). I was more offended that they charged 15 bucks to have UPS ship them to me in an envelope (and 11.50 for a “convenience fee”).

Looking at his tour date listing, the change in size between the venues Morrissey is playing in up north and the ones down here is sort of odd. He’s playing Madison Square Garden one night, and then the Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA the next date. I have no idea how many fans he has here in Hampton Roads. Since I have started to really get into Morrissey’s music I have been really taken back by the diversity among his most loyal fans– they are everywhere and they are not easy to peg down. Norfolk can be kind of a redneck city (I imagine a greater turnout for the Insane Clown Posse show that’s coming up) but PETA being headquartered here will make a difference– but how much of one? I really don’t what to expect; a Norva half-filled with Norfolk’s hipster bunny-huggers or a gang of sweaty dudes hugging each other and screaming along to “There is A Light That Never Goes Out.” I must say, I am really hoping for that latter.
