I men­tioned a few posts ago back that my bass was in need of a refret. Well I just boxed up my beloved Sad­owsky 5-String today and I am ship­ping it off to Brook­lyn from work. The UPS Store charged me 31 dol­lars for a “gui­tar box” to ship it in. I feel so raped that I want make a Life­time orig­i­nal movie about my expe­ri­ence. For­tu­nately I get bet­ter rate on ship­ping at work so it might even out in the end.

I prob­a­bly could have had it done locally for less money but no one around here does fin­ish­ing in-house and since it is a maple fret­board it needs to be resprayed after the fret­board is re-leveled. I took some “before” pho­tos of the fret­board but they didn’t come out too well and I didn’t really have time to per­fect them. I am lit­tle bummed that the fret­board will have to be resprayed because it has taken me ten years to wear the fin­ish in. I like that it looks worn and it looks played. It will take some get­ting used to, or maybe it will be even better.
