The Easiest Way I Can Say It

Whiskerino 2005 = Woodstock 1969.
A magical event that was bigger than anyone could have anticipated. Whiskerino 2005 bordered on being “life-altering” which is not an easy thing to be when you aren’t even trying.

Whiskerino 2007 = Woodstock 1999.
Though not commercially forced, the participants (myself included) are looking for a bottled version of whatever Whiskerino 2005 was and it’s just not happening. I’m not quitting, I’m just not having as much fun. I think I might even be trying too hard. I really need the community, and it’s nice to chat with my bearded homies again. My really good friends from two years ago are heavily occupied with personal issues or just too damned busy to step up the game. It’s too bad. Rather than acting as a support system for these personal issues (the way we thought it would happen), Whiskerino seems to be a chore to participate in. Understandable, though, as there are more than double the number of participants with only a small percentage of them being much fun to chat with. This makes it both hard to meet the new guys and keep up with the old favorites.

  • Yeah, I think that’s not too far off the mark. There have been moments this time around, and I’m still impressed by the creativity of so many of these guys (my God, Luke has just been fantastic). But yeah, not quite the experience that it was in ’05.

  • I’ve made a couple of new friends since I posted this– proving me completely wrong.
