The basis of most Filipino-American humor hinges on the clash between the two cul­tures, par­tic­u­larly the lan­guages and the result­ing accent. I’d say the major­ity of jokes that Kim’s aunts and uncles tell involve Taga­log words that sound like Eng­lish words, or vice versa.
