Bass Lessons Available
My focus as a teacher has always been to help students of all levels develop a strong musical foundation made up of fundamental skills which will provide for them a lifetime of musical growth. Regardless of one’s musical tastes, goals, or principle instrument, the “Four T’s” (Time, Tone, Timbre, and Taste) are universally important assets to any musician.
In addition to receiving my Bachelor’s of Music from Berklee College of Music in 2003, I have been studying the electric bass for 20 years, which includes 4 and 5 string fretted and fretless instruments. I have been a private music instructor for about 8 years which has included teaching as many as 30 individual students a week at Alpha Music and teaching bass and combo classes for the Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts’ Jazz Band from 2005 to 2007.
I do not follow a rigid lesson plan, but I do not allow my students to work exclusively on what they feel most comfortable with and disregard that which they need to progress to the next level. My goal is to craft lessons balancing the needs as well as the interests of each student. Music theory, ear training and groove composition are among my focuses as a bass instructor and all contemporary styles of music are discussed.
I am now teaching exclusively at School of Rock Norfolk, a performance based academy where, in addition to traditional private lessons, students learn to work together in a real band environment.
Please contact the school for more detailed information regarding their program.
